Jerome Historical Society and Museum

The Jerome Historical Society is committed to collecting, preserving, and making available artifacts and information on the history of Jerome and the surrounding area.

The Jerome Historical Society owns several pieces of property in the city. One houses the Mining Museum, which is located on Main Street in Jerome. The Museum contains documents as well as artifacts. The Jerome Historical Society Archives are located across the street in another building owned by the Historical Society. Their holdings are extensive. There are over 5,000 photographs in the collection along with a room full of documents. While much of their collection pertains to the city itself, there is an extensive amount of information on mining and mining companies that operated in and around Jerome. This includes Clarkdale and Clemenceau. Another high point of their collection lies in the vast amount of information available on the local schools.

The Jerome Historical Society welcomes researchers. They should contact archivist/curator, Alene Alder. She can be reached at 520-634-7349 or history@verdenet.com.

    Photos and scrapbooks
The Jerome Historical Society has approximately 5,000 photos. The majority of the photos are from Jerome and the greater Jerome area. By using the Society's photo database, one can search for photos by the subject's name. There are many current photos as the town records its present; however, the majority of the pictures, are from the 1890s to the 1930s.

Although some photos listed below are identical to those in the Historic State Park, roughly two thirds of the photos in the collection are unique to this location. The numbers listed below are approximate.
