Rough Rider officers with Josephine the mountain lion in San Antonio. The First U.S. Volunteer Cavalry Regiment
Reproduction Model 1884 U.S. Army fatigue coat and pants as first issued to the Rough Riders. The original coats had "Goodyear patent" hard-rubber buttons. After Cuban combat, the Rough Riders burned their filthy clothing and were issued flashy new Model 1898 fatigue uniforms. Almost no examples of the first uniform exist today. U.S. Army Model 1896 "Mills patent" mounted-service cartridge belt as used by the Rough Riders. |
