Jill Jones and the Lone Star Chorale (Driftwood, Texas) offer a no-nonsense representation of western music in one of its finest forms today. This group (Doug Floyd, Jill Jones, and Patty Clayton) uses a wonderful repertoire covering originals, traditional cowboy songs, western swing, and contemporary songs by some of todayís finest western songwriters. Jill provides the powerful lead vocals and award-winning yodeling as she lays down an energetic rhythm guitar. Her awards and recognition for quality performances are numerous, and her understanding of the livestock industry and its music is evident in her music and singing. Doug and Patty round out the rich sounds of this group. Doug brings 30 plus years of experience to the Chorale with one of the most gentle, yet powerful voices to be found anywhere, singing lead and harmony with ease as he plays guitar, banjo, and mandolin. Patty sings harmony and lead while playing the standup bass. She has been performing since the early 1970s. Together, Jill has corralled some of the finest musicians in the Lone Star State and is bringing them into the hearts and homes of the West. The group was named the 2002 Best Western Music Group by the Academy of Western Artists. |
