SAMANTHA (MARTA) EARNEST DEARMOND
Samantha Earnest was born April 21, 1880, in Pleasanton, Kansas, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Daniel Earnest.

She came to Stanton, Arizona, in 1903 after she had married William Jasper DeArmond, a farmer and carpenter, that same year. Marta and William had three children: Mazie McCombs in 1907, Gladys Scott in 1912, and Lawrence DeArmond in 1914.

The DeArmonds moved from Stanton to Peeples' Valley in 1909, then to Skull Valley in 1912, where they remained for 32 years. After her husband died, she moved to Camp Verde, where she lived with her daughter Gladys and her son-in-law Leonard Scott.

Marta was the pianist and a singer for the Community Church of God in Skull Valley. She liked sewing and gardening, was helpful to others and was a wonderful Christian woman.

Marta died on January 2, 1973, and was buried in the Skull Valley Cemetery.

Donor: Mazie DeArmond McCombs
