MINNIE ATKINSON SEAMAN
Minnie, the daughter of Mary and Robert Atkinson, was born in 1868 and died in 1948. She married Daniel J. Seaman on August 26, 1888, at the residence of her parents in Iron Springs.

According to the 1900 census, she had four children: Minnie J., Ellery J., Daniel J. and Fredrick H. The 1910 census lists Minnie, Sandy, Hessie and Caroline in her household. She is listed as "divorced, head of household," so she may have taken in other children.

In 1880, Minnie was a candidate for clerkship in the Arizona State Legislature, perhaps the first woman to apply for this position. When her son Dan was Superintendent of the Arizona Pioneers' Home, she acted as "matron."

Minnie's mother Mary Atkinson and her daughter Eileen are also represented in the Memorial Rose Garden.
