Territorial Women's Memorial Rose Garden
MARGUERITE MURPHY MCLAUGHLIN ENGSTROM
Marguerite was born on August 21, 1871, in Biddleford, Maine, the daughter of Patrick Deven and Bridget Grimes Murphy. She attended Minnesota State Teachers College and taught school.

Marguerite married John R. McLaughlin, and they had a son, John. While a widow, she was postmistress at Downs, Washington. Later she married John A. Engstrom and had a daughter, Marguerite.

She came to Phoenix in 1940 and then moved to Prescott. Later she moved to El Paso, where she managed a hotel.

Marguerite was very charitable and generous with those less fortunate; she never talked about it but simply did nice things for people.

She died on October 11, 1969, and was buried at Mountain View Cemetery.
