JENNIE MURPHY BURKE
Jennie was born in 1855 in Ireland and came to the United States when she was 19 years old. In 1880, she accompanied the Colonel Benjamin family to Fort Whipple, Arizona Territory. She graduated from St. Joseph's Academy in near-by Prescott.

On January 4, 1883, she married Dennis Burke at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Prescott. Burke built the Burke-Hickey Hotel (now the St. Michael) on Whiskey Row.

Jennie belonged to the Catholic Church. The six Burke children were Anna, Katy, Mary Goodwin, John, Beverly and Dennis. In 1898, Dennis Jr., almost five years old, died of spinal meningitis.

After she was widowed, she lived at 217 N. Marina Street. Jennnie died on May 2, 1950, and was buried in Mountain View Cemetery.
