Territorial Women's Memorial Rose Garden
EVELYN ELNORA MACKIN ZUCHERO

Evelyn was born in 1903 in Prescott, the daughter of Peter and Alvina Bennett Mackin. "We Mackin children," she recalled, "used to walk the two miles to and from school each day, oftentimes through snow and cold."

Evelyn attended St. Joseph's Academy. After graduation, she started working for Head Lumber Co. Ror more than 25 years, Evelyn was the bookkeeper.

Evelyn married Dominick Zuchero. She worked at the Prescott Evening Courier and was the secretary of the Prescott Garden Club and a member of the Moose Lodge Auxiliary. She belonged to the Sacred Heart Church.

Her mother, Alvina Bennett Mackin, and her grandmother, Alvina Maria Rodriguez Bennett, are also commemorated in the Memorial Rose Garden.

Evelyn died in November 1969 and was buried in Mountain View Cemetery.
