Territorial Women's Memorial Rose Garden
DORA NELLIE GIBSON SHUPP

Nellie was born in Globe, Arizona, on July 30,1882, the daughter of pioneers Mr. and Mrs. William Gibson. On December 25,1901, in a double wedding with her sister Eva and Harley Miller, Nellie married Chester Shupp. Chester operated the Shupp Ranch in Skull Valley - the eleventh homestead officially issued by the Territory of Arizona.

Dora and Chester had three daughters: Edith (Mrs. Roscoe) Duncan, Helen (Mrs. George) Voller, Elsie (Mrs. David) Dougherty, and a son, Donald.

The Shupps moved to 803 Dougherty Street in Prescott in 1949. She and Chester celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary in 1951.

Her mother-in-law, Josephine, is also represented in the Rose Garden.

Nellie died on February 22, 1966, and was buried in Skull Valley Cemetery.
