Territorial Women's Memorial Rose Garden
ALVA AMELIA SHIPP MALOY DICKERSON
Alva was born in Socorro, New Mexico, on July 24, 1896, the daughter of James Calvin and Mary Alma Bower Shipp. She came to Arizona Territory about 1897.

Alva married Albert George Maloy on November 17, 1911, in Prescott and had two children: Susan Pauline Herrman and Albert George. On February 24, 1919, Alva was married to Lawrence Leo Dickerson and had a daughter, Clara Bell.

According to her daughter Pauline, "Unselfish devotion to her children was her greatest attribute...She didn't have any hobbies. In fact, she was always too busy working for our livelihood to have had time to spend on herself. She joined the Mormon Church in her later years and enjoyed the church work."

Alva died on November 8, 1967.
