Gil and his wife, Marjorie Gibson Rudd, were married in 1937 and lived in New York for many years until they moved from Rochester to Prescott, Arizona in 1978 where they built a home with a wonderful view of the San Francisco Peaks.

Gil Rudd came to the Sharlot Hall Museum in 1979. Sue Abbey, Archivist at the time, immediately harnessed his energy in to creating a brand new state of the art darkroom. When it was complete, anyone with some sense of darkroom procedure could make copy prints of any of the Museum’s tens of thousands photographic images. In addition to serving on the Museum’s board, Gil was named the Museum’s volunteer of the year in 1987.

Marjorie and Gil continued to work with the Museum in many capacities. Gil taught many staff and other volunteers his darkroom skills. He assisted us in bringing old images to life with his darkroom expertise in filters and time.
