In 1934 he moved from Norfolk, Virginia and joined Eastman
Kodak in Rochester New York where he worked in the research
laboratory during the transition years from black and white film
to color.

His publications in the photographic field included such research
papers as “Copying the Black-And-White
Print,” “Some Factors Influencing The Quality
Of Microfilm Images,” “The Potential Of Photography
To Record Ground Detail From A Satellite,” and “Color
Reprography” presented at the International Congress of
Photography in Cologne, Germany. He was the recipient of the
prestigious Pioneer Award of the Association form Information
and Image Management for his pioneering methods of coding microfilm,
and proper exposure control for documents, in May 1985.
